Amolatar, Uganda – The territorial police in Amolatar district are hunting for Loy, also known as Margaret, aged 20, on allegations of killing her husband. This follows a report registered to the police by Opio Luka, aged 34, from the place of occurrence in Acilidwe village, Bangladesh parish, Namasale Sub-County, in Amolatar District. The deceased has been identified as Ojok Patrick, aged 24, of the Lango tribe, a fisherman, and a resident of the same area.
According to SP Okema Jimmy Patrick, it’s alleged that on April 24, 2024, at around 01:00 hours, Okello Richard, a neighbor to the deceased, heard Ojok quarreling with his wife Loy over a bedsheet. Okello intervened and settled the dispute, and the bedsheet was handed over to the deceased’s wife. However, at around 02:00 hours, Okello heard the deceased calling him by his nickname. Upon reaching the deceased’s door, he found him seated outside, bleeding severely. Ojok informed him that he had been stabbed by his wife with a blunt object, and she had already fled.
Okello immediately sought help from their landlord, Luka, who provided first aid and allowed Ojok to rest inside his house while still alive. In the morning, at around 06:00 hours, Okello checked on the deceased’s condition and found him helpless. He informed the landlord, who then reported the incident to the police. The scene of the crime was visited by the District CID officer and team.
Okema added that statements were recorded from witnesses, the body was retrieved, and conveyed to Amolator Health Centre IV, where Ojok was confirmed dead, pending a postmortem examination. No exhibits were recovered by the police, and the suspect has not yet been arrested since she is still at large. However, efforts to apprehend her are ongoing.
Police stated that Ojok’s life could have been saved if he had been rushed for medical treatment. They have called for calmness from the relatives and pledged commitment to investigating this matter so that the suspect is produced before the court of law.
