Police Investigate Suspected Murder of 66-Year-Old Man in Apac District

Apac, Uganda – Territorial police in Apac District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of 66-year-old Ogwang Washington, whose body was discovered on August 11, 2025, near his home in Adok B, Alworoceng, Ibuje Sub-County.

The report was made by Odyek Patrick, 56, a resident of Agengi Cell, Central Ward, Akere Division in Apac Municipality.

According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson, it is alleged that on August 10, 2025, the deceased left home at around 11:00 AM to look for a grinding machine to process his maize. He later returned with a tap line and, at around 3:00 PM, went to Alekoli Trading Centre to watch a football match. However, he never returned home.

On the following day, August 11, at approximately 2:00 PM, Ogwang’s body was found lying along the road leading from Alekoli Trading Centre, just a short distance from his home.

Police were notified, and a case of suspected murder was registered at Kidirani Police Post. A team of officers, led by the Officer in Charge of the post, visited the scene. The body was retrieved and taken to Apac Main Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

As of now, no suspects have been arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
