In Kabanga village, Mukono district, Resty Nakate, a 22-year-old mother, is being held by Kampala Metropolitan Police East Region for the alleged fatal beating of her 14-month-old daughter, Sonia Nalwoga. Meanwhile, in Bango village, Koboko district, Jesca Alony, also 22, faces charges related to the torture and murder of her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Nakito Ayona, as confirmed by Police spokesperson Fred Enanga during a joint weekly media briefing at Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

According to Enanga, the incidents have deeply affected the communities involved, sparking concerns over the alleged murders of young daughters by their own mothers. Nakate is suspected of having fatally injured her daughter on February 19, 2024, and subsequently rushed her to Kabanga Health Centre III, where the child was pronounced dead upon arrival. Authorities acted swiftly upon receiving the report, leading to Nakate’s arrest.

Regarding Alony’s case, Enanga explained that she is accused of subjecting her daughter to starvation, resulting in the child’s death on February 23, 2024. Allegedly, a dispute erupted between Alony and Kiguli Twaha, the father of the victim, on February 21, 2024, concerning allegations of neglect and starvation of Nakito. This purportedly led to Alony physically assaulting her daughter, with concerned neighbors intervening. Alony then reportedly disappeared with the child on February 22, 2024, only to return the next day with the child deceased.

Law enforcement authorities intervened to prevent further violence and ensure the preservation of evidence. The victim’s body was subsequently transferred to Koboko Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
