Bugingo Shooting: Police Reveal Tampering at Crime Scene

Police authorities have disclosed that the crime scene where the vehicle of Senior Pastor Aloysius Bugingo from House of Prayer Ministries was shot at on Tuesday night, January 2, 2024, had been tampered with. Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Police spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating that upon immediate response to the incident, they discovered evidence of tampering.

Owoyesigyire also confirmed that eyewitness statements had been diligently recorded, and the body of Bugingo’s personal assistant, Richard Muhumuza, was taken to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem.

The police statement revealed that after the attack in Namungoona, Zone 2, Kasubi, Rubaga South Division, Bugingo managed to escape the scene and drove his vehicle with registration ‘PRAIZ GOD’ to Mulago Hospital. At the medical facility, Muhumuza was confirmed dead, while Bugingo received medical care and is currently recuperating.

The police are actively investigating the attempted assassination incident and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailants. Social media pictures show Bugingo, with a brown plaster attached to his right hand, calmly seated on a medical bed. In a video, Charles Senkubuge, also known as Siasa and employed by Bugingo-owned Salt Media, mentioned that Bugingo thanked God for sparing his life and expressed deep sadness over Richard’s passing.
