Police in Bushenyi District are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old woman early Saturday morning. The tragedy occurred at approximately 5:00 AM near the Nyakabirizi municipal council offices in Nyakabirizi Division, Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Tusime Donahue, a resident of Katungu Cell, Ward 1, Bushenyi District.
According to initial reports, Ms. Donahue was walking home from Nyakabirizi trading center when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle approaching from an unknown direction. The impact proved fatal.
Tumusiime stated that the deceased’s body has been transported to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination. Police are actively investigating the incident, seeking to determine the cause of the accident, identify the vehicle involved, and locate the driver.
Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
