Lira District police have arrested five individuals in connection with the mob killing of Otodi Solomon, 28, a resident of Okeno Village, Angolocom Parish, Agweng Sub-County, Lira District.
According to North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the incident occurred on October 1, 2025, at around 12:30 a.m.
It is alleged that Ayugi Rose Ogwang, a resident of Okeno Village, was asleep inside her house when she heard her goats making noise. Upon checking, she discovered that two goats were missing and noticed a motorcycle moving away. She raised an alarm, prompting members of the community to respond.
As the crowd chased the moving motorcycle, one goat reportedly fell off. The owner confirmed it was her stolen goat. The rider, later identified as Otodi Solomon, was pursued until around 5:00 a.m., when Ogora clan leaders apprehended him.
He was interrogated and allegedly confessed to stealing the goats and taking the second one to Ayeni Sam of Alenga Village. The clan leaders reportedly became angry and began beating him. Otodi sustained severe injuries and allegedly died as a result.
The LC1 Chairperson, Ocen Augustine, was informed and later reported the incident to Agweng Town Council Police Station.
