The Police in Masindi have detained four women employed at Good Life Bar and Lodge in Bulima Town Council for the alleged murder of a 49-year-old patron, Francis Rickey Okello.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of January 25th when Okello, after arriving at the bar for drinks around 2 pm, was allegedly lured into a lodge room by one of the workers, Beatrice Nakimuli, under the pretense of sexual services.
However, inside the room, Nakimuli was joined by three other women: Sharon Atuhura, Mercy Nahulira, and Annet Orishaba. The women then allegedly attacked Okello, fatally stabbing him with a knife and subsequently stealing an unspecified amount of money from him.
Upon receiving a distress call, police swiftly responded to the scene, where they recovered a blood-stained knife. The four women were promptly arrested and are currently detained at Masindi Central Police Station.
“The bar is closed, the women are in jail, and a man has lost his life. It’s senseless. Instead of resorting to crime, people should work hard to earn a living,” remarked Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson.
Dr. Cosmas Byaruhanga, the Masindi District Chairman, urged men to exercise caution when drinking, particularly when interacting with strangers in bars. “If you’ve gone to drink, drink and go home. Trusting someone you’ve just met can be dangerous,” he warned.
The victim’s body was transported to Masindi Hospital mortuary and later released to his relatives for burial. The suspects are currently facing murder charges as police finalize the case files.
