Investigation Underway in Kole District After 57 Year-Old Woman’s Suspected Murder

A very unsettling incident has drawn the attention of the local authorities in the quiet district of Kole, located in North Kyoga Region. On November 1, 2023, a 57-year old woman, Aol Scovia, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the vicinity of her home. The Kole District Police have initiated an investigation into what is suspected to be a murder.

The tragic incident occurred in Aweki village, Abur parish, Ayer Sub-County, Kole district, where Aol Scovia’s life was abruptly taken away. Her lifeless body was discovered merely 50 meters away from her residence, leaving the community in shock. The events unfolded on the morning of November 1, 2023, at approximately 7:00 AM.

Details of the case reveal that Aol and her son, Mr. Ngole Ambrose, had engaged in digging for money the previous day, on October 31, 2023. They returned home around 4:00 PM; however, a peculiar turn of events followed. At around 5:00 PM, Aol visited the home of Odur Tom and consumed waragi, a locally-made spirit. She then returned home under the influence of alcohol around 7:00 PM.

Later in the evening, at approximately 7:30 PM, Aol left her home once more, this time heading to the residence of Oder Moris. She spent some time there before returning home quite late, around 10:00 PM.

The morning after, a grim discovery was made—Aol Scovia’s lifeless body was found 50 meters away from her home. This tragic incident was promptly reported, leading to the registration of a case of suspected murder at Kole Central Police Station under the reference CRB 557/2023.

Upon receiving the report, the scene of the crime was carefully inspected and documented by the District Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and a team of detectives from the homicide squad. Additionally, statements were recorded from individuals with relevant information pertaining to the case.

To ascertain the cause of Aol Scovia’s death, her body has been transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.

In response to these distressing events, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the PRO for the North Kyoga Region, expressed his sentiments. He characterized the incident as “very unfortunate” and emphasized the importance of moderation in alcohol consumption among the public, suggesting that an excessive appetite for alcohol could contribute to similar tragic cases.
