Kisoro Police Seek Priest in Connection with Deadly Pedestrian Accident

PHOTO - Kabale Kisoro Road - Police in Kisoro district are hunting for a 58-year-old priest in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Independence Day.

In Kisoro district, an incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle has led to a fatality, prompting a police investigation.

On Independence Day, Monday, October 9, 2023, at around 9:20 p.m., a fatal accident occurred in Kisoro. Reverend Sam Nziita, a 58-year-old resident of Kibande village, Busamba ward, Southern division in Kisoro municipality, is currently being sought by the police in connection with this incident.




The victim, identified as 55-year-old Mbabazi Stephen, also from Kisoro, was struck and killed by a silver Toyota Prado with registration number UAW030C. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Kisoro town towards Kabale when it lost control near Kyamps petrol station, colliding with the pedestrian who was walking along the road. This tragic collision resulted in immediate fatality.




Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, has attributed the accident to reckless driving. He emphasized that ongoing investigations aim to locate the driver who fled the scene.




Following the accident, the body of the deceased was transported to Kisoro hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the involved vehicle was taken to Kisoro Central Police Station for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
