Fresh details have emerged about the incident that occurred on Friday in a bar at Janda zone, Namugongo, Kira Municipality, resulting in the death of a woman identified only as Bianca. The victim was allegedly struck with a blunt object during the early morning hours, leading to her demise.

According to Geoffrey Kuluba, a casual laborer, three suspects—Gido John (known as Johnnie), Clement, and Bombom—were romantically involved with the deceased. The situation escalated when all three men, having dated her during the Christmas days, encountered her at Janda bar. A dispute arose as they all vied to leave with her, demanding to see her phone.

In the ensuing scuffle at 2 am, the suspects, angered by the situation, struck Bianca on the head. Following the murder, Johnnie, Clement, and Bombom swiftly fled the scene, leaving the bar operators with the victim’s body.

Namugongo Catholic and Anglican Shrines police, assisted by deployed soldiers enhancing security in the area, cordoned off the scene. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, identified Johnnie as a South Sudanese national. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Bianca’s death resulted from a dispute over a phone inside the bar.

Owoyesigyire stated, “There was an altercation arising from a phone, and in the process, Bianca was hit and she died. The suspects Gido aka Johnnie, Clement, and Bombom fled the scene. We have already arrested Gido, and he is currently detained at Kira Division Police.”

Police urge the public to remain vigilant and share any pertinent information for the ongoing investigation and the apprehension of the suspects still at large. Bianca’s body has been taken to Mulago Hospital.
