In a tragic incident today, a passenger en route to Mbarara District passed away at Kisenyi Bus Terminal in Central Division, Kampala District. The deceased, identified as Dickson Namanya, was reported to be in poor health prior to his sudden demise. Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

The incident unfolded around 2:00 PM and was initially reported by Javira Kiwana, a vigilant toilet attendant at the terminal. Namanya, who was visibly unwell, had stopped at the terminal’s facilities, presumably to relieve himself. Regrettably, he succumbed to his condition just outside the toilet facility before he could enter.

According to Owoyesigyire, preliminary findings indicate that Namanya was indeed a passenger who had obtained a ticket for the Swift Bus service bound for Mbarara. In response to this sudden death, the Muzaana Police Post acted promptly, registering a case of unexpected demise. Officers from the Divisional Scene of Crime Office were dispatched to the scene to initiate a comprehensive investigation.

Namanya’s remains have been transported to Mulago Hospital for further examination and an autopsy to ascertain the cause of this unforeseen tragedy. The police investigation is already in progress to shed light on the circumstances leading to his untimely death. Our condolences and thoughts are with the family and friends of Namanya during this challenging time.
