A man in Kasese, Jackson Muhindo, was arrested last week on allegations of murdering two individuals, which included his 40-year-old wife.
The arrest came in response to a disappearance case reported at Mukunyu trading center in the Kasese district. The missing person was identified as Biira Mary, who had been reported missing at the beginning of the year.
According to Fred Enanga, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police Force, this incident was the result of a strained relationship that had lasted for a decade. During September 2023, pressure from the victim’s relatives led to the suspect’s arrest after he continually made excuses about her whereabouts.
The suspect was taken into custody soon after the matter was reported to Bwera Police in Kasese. Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to killing his wife in January 2023 and subsequently burying her body secretly.
Furthermore, during the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had also murdered his biological brother, Kabutusi Jolesi, in July 2023 and had concealed the body in Kyabikere 1 village, Kanyasi town council in Kasese.
Fred Enanga mentioned that the suspect was believed to be involved in fetish practices and had no children with his wife. He was considered a dreaded figure in the community due to his wickedness.
The Uganda Police Force strongly condemned such acts of violence and brutality within domestic settings. The arrest of the suspected perpetrator signifies their commitment to combat violent crimes. Ongoing investigations aim to determine if any other innocent individuals were victimized by the suspect, according to Enanga.
