Stolen Gun Recovered in Rukungiri After Tipoff

Police in Rukungiri District recovered a stolen gun on January 31 that had been taken from a private security guard attached to Millennium Security Ltd. The missing gun, initially reported under SD REF 03/19/01/2024 at Rukungiri police station, was found hidden in a bush near a crop garden behind Rukungiri District administration block in Butagatsi cell, Kinyasano, Ward Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The gun’s discovery followed a tipoff from a good Samaritan, leading the police to respond promptly. Mr. Elly Maate, the Police spokesman for Kigezi Region, confirmed that the recovered gun (UG PSO -07318- 03821) matched the one stolen from a security guard, Erigio Mugyenyi, on January 19 in Rukungiri District.
