A 15-year-old boy named Dismus Kyokwijuka, who lived in Runyamunyu cell in Bugangari sub-county, has lost his life in a tragic accident. The accident involved a silver and green Fuso Fighter with the registration number UBM 711G, traveling towards Bikurungu town in Bikurungu sub-county.
According to a statement from the police, the accident occurred at 3:00 PM yesterday along the Rukungiri – Kihihi road. The accident left the driver of the vehicle and two other passengers seriously injured. The unconscious driver was swiftly taken to Nyakibare hospital for medical treatment.
Elly Maate, who serves as the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, has explained that the accident happened due to a mechanical failure in the vehicle. This occurred as the vehicle reached Bagawe cell in Bugangari sub-county, causing it to veer off the road and fatally strike a pedestrian.
Upon receiving the alert, the police arrived at the scene and conducted an examination. The documentation of the scene was led by DTO Rukungiri, Asp Ntawera Felix. A postmortem examination was carried out, and the area was cleared. The vehicle has been towed and is pending an inspection by IOV (Inspectorate of Vehicles).
