In Mbale City, Uganda, police have apprehended thirteen students from Nkoma Secondary School, Mbale Secondary School, and Progressive High School. They were arrested for organizing a protest that disrupted traffic. These students were expelled from their respective schools earlier on Tuesday due to unpaid fees. Their demonstration involved blocking Pallisa road and throwing stones at vehicles.

Rogers Taitika, the spokesperson for the Elgon region police, stated that the police swiftly intervened to disperse the protesting students and subsequently arrested thirteen individuals. These suspects are currently being held at Mbale Central Police Station.

Authorities are actively seeking additional students who fled the scene. Taitika explained that the students will face charges related to inciting violence and causing intentional damage to property.
