A wave of shock and grief has hit the community of Lunnya-Kigo, Ndejje, following the brutal murder of Yasin Lukwago, a 32-year-old businessman commonly known as Kamanda. The incident occurred on Wednesday, and authorities have launched a full investigation into what appears to be a targeted killing linked to a financial dispute.
According to preliminary reports, Lukwago was attacked at his residence by unknown assailants armed with pangas and two AK-47 rifles. The attackers reportedly forced their way into his home before carrying out the gruesome act. Sources close to the investigation suspect the motive behind the murder is connected to a money deal gone bad between Lukwago and several of his business associates.
“It seems there was a disagreement over money. He had fallen out with some people he worked with,” a source familiar with the case revealed.
So far, two boda boda riders believed to have been involved in the execution or coordination of the attack have been arrested, while other suspects remain at large. Security agencies are currently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the remaining assailants.
Lukwago was a rising entrepreneur in Kampala’s business circles and was well-known in the areas of Kigo and Ndejje. His untimely death has left friends, colleagues, and family members reeling in disbelief.
Police have cordoned off the crime scene and continue to gather evidence. The public has been urged to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
This tragic incident adds to a growing list of violent attacks involving disputes over money and business disagreements, raising concerns about the safety of young entrepreneurs in Uganda.
May justice be served and May His Soul Rest in Peace.
