The Kajjansi Police’s Crime Intelligence Office received a disturbing report from a Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence operative. This report concerned a group of over 40 unidentified individuals armed with ominous tools, actively exhuming deceased individuals from the burial grounds of the Mamba clan.
Upon receiving this alarming information, the district Police commander (DPC) of Kajjansi was informed. Subsequently, a team was dispatched to put an end to this activity, as disclosed by sources with knowledge of the operation.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they were confronted with a distressing sight.
The group, under the leadership of Charles Zziwa, the LC1 chairperson of Bwebajja Cell A, and the head of the Mamba clan, was in the process of exhuming the deceased.
The Police report reveals that internal strife had arisen within the Mamba family. Allegations had surfaced that a portion of the family’s land, approximately 2 acres, had been sold to a businesswoman known only as Namagembe, without the consent of all clan members. This led to discord within the family.
Tensions continued to escalate as pressure from the buyer intensified. Zziwa, representing the Mamba family, made the controversial decision to relocate the deceased to a new property in Buwama. However, this decision did not sit well with certain family members.
According to the police report, this decision triggered the nightmarish act of exhumation, which was executed with the assistance of hired bouncers to ensure the operation’s security.
Promptly, the Police intervened, apprehending eight individuals, including Charles Zziwa, Halima Nakiyaga, Zawade, Topista Namubiru, Hijambo Godfrey, Ronald Mutebi, Abedi Mutebi, and Ronald Ssekide.
As per the Police, all the suspects are currently detained at the Kajjansi Police Division, pending further investigation.
