The Kampala Metropolitan South Police, in a swift operation aided by the Flying Squad Unit, successfully intercepted a stolen livestock haul on 25 January morning. Acting on a tip, officers were alerted to a suspect transporting cows for sale to abattoirs in Kyengera and Natete.

Luke Oweyesigyire, Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, confirmed the operation. The vigilant Flying Squad team, stationed on Kutano Nakawuka Road in Rubaga Division, engaged the suspect vehicle in the early hours.

The driver, identified as Mugema Ismah (32), attempted to evade the checkpoint, forcing officers to deflate the vehicle’s tires. Ismah sustained injuries during the apprehension and is currently receiving medical attention at Mulago Hospital under police custody.

A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed two live cows, securely tied, concealed in the back seat and trunk. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the stolen cattle, with Matuga being a prime suspect.

Authorities urge anyone with information on stolen cows to come forward to the Natete Police Station, where the case is being actively investigated.

This successful intervention highlights the persistent issue of cattle theft plaguing various parts of the country. Law enforcement remains committed to curbing such crimes, and efforts to apprehend additional suspects involved in this illegal activity are underway.

  • We solemnly declare that we received a report today. A Chinese lady was lured into Uganda by lawless men on January 20th and was placed under house arrest! I would like to issue a solemn warning: The land of Uganda is by no means a soil where lawless people can survive. I hope you can make the right choice. Release the hostages before 7pm on the 23rd and contact the Overseas Chinese Police Center as soon as possible! Don't take any chances, otherwise, we will join forces with Uganda's powerful departments to get to the bottom of it, and you will be responsible for the consequences! ! !
