Preliminary findings suggest that the couple had been married for more than 25 years and had a history of long-standing domestic violence. Authorities suspect that after the gruesome murder of Sekunda, Niyoyita might have also fallen victim to a mob attack.

In a baffling and tragic incident, a 46-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife were discovered dead in their home in Katonga Village, Kitumbi Parish, Kitumbi Sub County, Kassanda District. Fred Niyoyita and his wife, Keren Sekunda, fell victim to an as-yet-unexplained series of events.

The grim discovery was made by local residents heading to their gardens around 7 a.m. According to Ms. Rachel Kawala, the spokesperson for the Wamala regional police, they stumbled upon the lifeless bodies. The scene was unnerving as they noticed fresh cuts on Niyoyita’s head and an open door, raising immediate concerns.

Upon entering Niyoyita’s residence, the residents found Sekunda’s lifeless body on her bed, facing downwards, intensifying the mystery surrounding their deaths. The local area chairperson was informed, and the police were called to investigate the matter.

Initial findings hint at a long history of domestic violence in the couple’s relationship, spanning over 25 years. It is suspected that following Sekunda’s gruesome murder, Niyoyita might have fallen victim to a mob attack, though this remains unconfirmed.

Further examination revealed that Sekunda had sustained a blow to the head, likely inflicted with a blunt object, such as a log, which was discovered near her body. Both bodies have been taken to Kassanda Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
