Police in Kikuube have detained Jimmy Oker, 33, a security guard affiliated with Ankar Security Company Limited, for fatally shooting his colleague William Tumusiime, 36, also a security guard with the same company. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 15, 2024, around 2 a.m.

According to information gathered by Uganda Radio Network (URN), their supervisor assigned the two guards to Kizirafumbi Secondary School in Kizirafumbi sub-county, Kikuube District.

However, a disagreement between the two escalated, and Oker reportedly shot Tumusiime in the head, killing him instantly. Oker then allegedly dragged the body and left it in the school playground.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, stated that detectives from Kikuube Central Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene, arrested Oker, and detained him at the police station on murder charges. The police also recovered and exhibited the two guns belonging to the guards.

The police transported Tumusiime’s body to Kikuube Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination, which confirmed that he died from injuries caused by the gunshot. The body was later handed over to his relatives for burial arrangements.
