The police in Kakumiro are holding a man accused of murdering his pregnant woman.
The suspect has been identified as Nabbos Byarugaba 30, a resident of Muziranduru village in Kibijjo sub county in Kakumiro while the deceased is Florence Musiime 25, a resident of the same area.
It is reported that the couple on June 30th while at their home picked a quarrel for unknown reasons. In the process, Byarugaba kicked Musiime in the stomach. Later Musiime who was pregnant developed complications.
Experito Semuli, the area LC1 Chairperson explained that on Monday, as Musiime was being rushed for treatment at the Kakumiro health center IV, she died on the way.
Area residents mobilised and arrested Byarugaba and handed him over to the police.
Julius Hakiiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident, stating that murder charges have already been preferred against the suspect who is currently detained at the Kakumiro police station.
He says the body has been handed over to the relatives for burial arrangements.
