Rubirizi, Uganda—Police in Rubirizi district have launched a manhunt for the assailant(s) who allegedly murdered a 51-year-old man.
The incident occurred overnight between February 2nd and 3rd, 2025, at Nyabubare Trading Center, Kyabakara Sub-County, Rubirizi district.
The deceased, Atungire Mutungi, a resident of Katehe Cell, Nyabubare Parish, Kyabakara Sub-County, left his home around 7 p.m. on February 2nd and did not return. He was found dead by the roadside in Nyabubare Trading Center on the morning of February 3rd.
Police were notified, and a case file was opened under Kyabakara SD ref 02/03/02/2025 for further investigation.
Investigators visited the scene and deployed a canine unit. However, the dog was unable to track the scent, as the scene had been tampered with.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, SSP Marcial Tumusiime, confirmed the incident, stating that the body was taken to Rugazi Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
Police inquiries are ongoing.
