Man Found Murdered in Mitooma, Police Launch Investigation

Police have launched an investigation into the murder of an unidentified man in Nyamiyaga 1, Kirembe Parish, Katenga Sub County, Mitooma district.

The suspected murder incident occurred at around 11:00 PM on January 17, 2025, and suspects remain at large.




On January 18, 2025, at around 10:00 AM, SP Olum Samuel, DPC Mitooma, received information from Tumwesigye Deus that a dead body was found dumped in the eucalyptus forest near Sajja Babisigaho’s property. The report was registered at CPS Mitooma, and inquiries commenced immediately.




The crime scene was visited. A police sniffer dog was introduced to the scene and tracked for approximately 150 meters before losing the scent. Exhibits, including a broken knife with blood stains, were recovered.




SSP Marcial Tumusiime, Police Spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi, confirmed the incident, stating that the body was taken to Kitagata Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as police investigations continue.
