Police in Rukiga District have opened investigations into a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old mechanic, Taremwa Hillary, in the early hours of Friday morning.
According to a police report, the accident occurred on 28 November 2025 at approximately 5:30 a.m. along the Kabale–Ntungamo highway.
Taremwa was a resident of Kabare Cell, Butare Ward in Muhanga Town Council, was reportedly walking along the roadway when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle which did not stop after the collision.
A response team led by DTO Rukiga, ASP Rubango J. Bosco, visited the scene and conveyed the body to Mparo Health Centre IV for postmortem examination. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim died instantly due to the impact.
Police say efforts to trace and identify the vehicle involved are underway, noting that obtaining eyewitness accounts and available surveillance remains key to the investigation.
