Police in Kabale are currently investigating the apparent suicide of 30-year-old bar owner Grace Ahimbisibwe.
Grace, a resident of Central East Cell, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, was found lifeless in Room 40 of the Agaba Motel building. The incident came to light after Fred Kadugara (57), residing in Makanga Cell, Butobere Ward, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, reported her disappearance.
According to Kadugara, Grace was last seen on January 20, 2024, at her bar. Alarmed by her absence, a missing person case was promptly filed under Kabale SD Ref: 35/30/01/2024.
The disheartening discovery was made by police officers from the Homicide Desk, led by D/AIP Mugabe Derrick, in collaboration with the regional SOC0 and District SOC0 DCPL Mubangizi. Grace’s lifeless body was found hanging by a piece of cloth around her neck, in a decomposing state.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the crime scene had been meticulously documented, and photographs were taken. Following the required protocols, the body was respectfully removed from the scene and transported to the Kabale Regional Referral Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination.
