“At about 4:00 am on Wednesday in Nabweru Kazo Muganzilwaza, Nansana Division, police received information about two individuals armed with pangas attempting to attack people. These individuals were on their way back home after spending the night at a funeral in Kazo Muganzilwaza,” Onyango explained.

He detailed that when the suspects realized they could not overpower the people they were trying to attack, they fled. The potential victims chased them to their rented room in Kazo, where the suspects tried to hide.

“The would-be victims alerted their neighbors and the local council chairperson of Kazo Muganzilwaza. Together, they surrounded the house and called the police. The police responded quickly to the scene,” Onyango added.

Upon searching the suspects’ room, the police recovered two pangas, a saw, an army-style green cap, and opium. These items were found in the presence of the LC1 chairperson. The suspects have been charged with possessing dangerous weapons and opium.

Onyango mentioned that the pangas will be examined by experts to determine if they have been used in any violent incidents.
