The Police in Wakiso district’s Nsangi conducted an intelligence-led operation aimed at apprehending the culprits in response to increasing incidents of ambushes on travelers. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, these criminals are known for frequenting gambling establishments before launching attacks on unsuspecting victims.
The operation, covering areas such as Kyengera town council, Buddo, Kasenge Kinawa, and surrounding regions in Wakiso district, resulted in the arrest of over 80 suspects. These individuals are currently held in custody at Nsangi Police Station pending further processing.
Among the seized items were tools used for breaking and entering, knives, marijuana, and master keys, suggesting potential involvement in burglary and housebreaking activities within the area, as stated by Onyango. The Police suspect that these arrested individuals may be part of a larger criminal network responsible for orchestrating such crimes.
As investigations progress, the suspects are undergoing screening, and their case files are being prepared for legal proceedings. It is anticipated that the suspects will appear in court tomorrow to face charges related to their alleged criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the operation to combat crime in the area remains ongoing as authorities continue to prioritize public safety and security.
