Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid acts of mob justice following coordinated attacks on security installations in western Uganda.
According to Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, the attacks, which occurred on November 1, 2025, targeted security facilities in Kasese District and neighboring areas, leaving several people injured and causing temporary panic among residents.
Rusoke said that although the situation has since returned to normal, security agencies are still pursuing suspects believed to be behind the attacks. He condemned recent incidents of mob action, including one captured on video showing residents in Kicwamba, Kabarole District, lynching a suspected attacker.
“We urge the public not to lynch any suspects but to hand them over to security agencies,” Rusooke said. “We have also seen a video of a police officer apparently shooting a suspect, and this incident is under analysis. We strongly condemn all forms of mob action.”
He added that joint security forces have stepped up patrols in the affected areas to restore confidence among residents and ensure continued safety.
Police further appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward, emphasizing that community cooperation is key in maintaining peace in the Rwenzori sub-region.
Authorities have assured the public that normalcy has returned, urging people to remain calm and continue with their daily activities as investigations proceed.
