The Ugandan Police have publicly showcased the vehicle belonging to Pastor Aloysious Bugingo, who survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday night. The display took place at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala.
The incident involved unknown assailants spraying Bugingo’s car with bullets along Namungoona, Zone 2, Kasubi Rubaga Division, Kampala, near Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road at approximately 9:00 pm. Pastor Bugingo, the lead pastor at the House of Prayer Ministries in Kampala, survived the attack, but his close confidant, Richard Muhumuza, who was seated in the co-driver’s seat, succumbed to gunshot wounds on the spot. Muhumuza was a Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) officer attached to the Special Forces Command-Nakasero and assigned to guard Bugingo.
The displayed vehicle, with the registration number “PRAIZ GOD,” exhibits over seven bullet holes on the co-driver’s side door. The co-driver’s seat and carpet bear visible bloodstains, providing evidence of the severity of the attack.
The motive behind the assassination attempt remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack on Pastor Bugingo and the tragic death of Richard Muhumuza.
