Kabale, Uganda – Police in Kabale District have launched an investigation into the suspicious death of an unidentified man, believed to be between 27 and 30 years old.
His body was discovered on Monday morning in a water-filled trench in Nyangade Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division of Kabale Municipality, situated along Katuna Road.
Residents reportedly found the body around 7:00 am on April 14, 2025, and promptly notified the Kabale Central Police Station (CPS).
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, the scene was examined, processed, and documented by the district Criminal Investigations Department (CID) team, led by Detective Superintendent of Police (D/SP) Mukama. The body was subsequently retrieved and transported to the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
ASP Maate stated that the deceased had fresh bruises on his face and neck, indicating potential foul play. He further mentioned that a sniffer dog was deployed at the scene but did not yield any significant leads.
Efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing. Police have appealed to the public, especially those with missing relatives, to visit the hospital mortuary to assist in identification and help ensure the deceased receives a decent burial.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are still underway.
