The territorial police in Lira City CPS are currently detaining one Erach Bosco, also known as “Pite Yela,” on allegations of attempted murder through the shooting of two victims, identified as:
- Atine Felix, aged 37.
- Ogwang Kenneth, aged 22.
According to the statement released by SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, it is alleged that on October 23, 2023, at FEROZ PUB along Oyite Ojok Lane, an altercation broke out between the two victims while they were drinking. They then moved outside the pub to where their cars were parked.
Erach Bosco, alias ‘Pite Yela,’ drew a pistol and fired at the victims, injuring them both.
Atine Felix immediately reported the case of attempted murder by shooting at Lira City CPS before seeking medical treatment at the main hospital. Ogwang Kenneth was promptly taken for medical treatment as well. The suspect, Erach Bosco, also went to Lira City West Division to report a case of assault. However, he was subsequently called back to the police station, disarmed, and taken to CPS, where a case of attempted murder was registered.
Preliminary findings indicate that the dispute was related to a disagreement over a lady who worked at Feroz Pub.
The case is under close investigation, and a file will be compiled for submission to the Resident City State Attorney for review and legal advice.
It is strongly advised for those legally in possession of firearms, especially pistols, to be aware of the circumstances under which they were issued these weapons. Any misuse may result in their firearms being revoked.
The incident has caused panic in Lira, particularly in drinking establishments, as patrons fear for their safety with the presence of individuals in possession of firearms.
An anonymous pub owner has urged security officials in North Kyoga to monitor all entertainment venues in Lira City and beyond.
