In a distressing incident, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) David Ekwang has been apprehended and is currently held at Jinja Road Police Barracks. He stands accused of fatally shooting Corporal Atino Jennifer, who was assigned to the Very Important Person Protection Unit (VIPPU) at Parliament.
The tragic incident unfolded at Jinja Road Police Barracks, where both AIP Ekwang and Corporal Atino Jennifer resided. AIP Ekwang allegedly used an unidentified firearm to carry out the attack, which occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Patrick Onyango, the shooting is believed to have been the result of a domestic dispute. The motive behind this tragic act appears to stem from issues related to domestic violence.
