About a month ago, a young girl named Faith Apio, just 5 years old, was discovered in a pool of blood at her school only three days after she started attending.
Subsequent independent investigations conducted by parents and community members uncovered that school staff were responsible for Faith’s murder.
In response to the legal system’s delay in delivering justice, residents in Soroti City set Jozan Nursery and Primary School on fire yesterday after a court ruling postponed the case until March 20, 2025.
This decision fueled outrage among locals who accused authorities of hindering the legal process while an innocent child lost her life. Faith’s body was found on February 5 in a pit latrine at the school, with her throat cut in what many believe to be a ritualistic killing.
Convinced that the postponement was a tactic to obstruct justice, a furious mob descended on the school, igniting flames in the administration block, dormitories, and food storage area.
The crowd also demolished the school’s perimeter wall, vandalized school offices and ransacked properties at the premises.
