(Wakiso) – Police in Kawempe have confirmed the death of a four year old girl, Clowe Ndagire, who had been reported missing from her home in Wakiso District. Her body was found in an abandoned house near her residence, with preliminary evidence suggesting she may have been sexually assaulted and murdered.
Clowe Ndagire, a resident of Kirinyabigo Zone in Nabweru, was last seen on November 15, 2024, playing outside her home with friends. Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire explained that the child’s mother noticed her absence when it was time for her bath and began searching. After failing to locate her, she reported the disappearance to Kawempe Police Station.
Two days later, on November 17, police were alerted to the discovery of a child’s body in an abandoned structure in Kawanda, just 400 meters from the girl’s home. Investigators identified the deceased as Clowe. According to Owoyesigyire, signs of possible sexual assault and strangulation were observed, but confirmation awaits expert forensic analysis.
Owoyesigyire shared these details during the weekly media briefing held at Uganda Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, on Monday. He stated that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for this crime.
The discovery of Clowe’s body comes amid ongoing concerns over child safety and a rise in kidnapping cases in Uganda.
