The police in Sheema District, are actively searching for a 36-year-old man, Dickson Agaba, accused of brutally hacking his 18-year-old niece, Fortune Tushemerirwe, to death with a garden hoe. The tragic incident unfolded at Nyamga Central cell, Nyanga ward, Kabwohe Division Sheema Municipality around 11:50 pm on December 31, 2023.

Martial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the details of the incident. Tumusiime revealed that Tushemerirwe and her brother were at Agaba’s home, enjoying drinks and dancing as they awaited the arrival of the new year. The situation took a dark turn when a fight erupted, and Agaba allegedly attacked his nephew, Tumwebaze, with a panga, causing injury to the right hand.

Tragically, Agaba allegedly struck her on the head with an old hoe, which had a broken handle, resulting in her immediate death.

A police team, including homicide and scene of crime officers, visited the crime scene to gather statements and recover the weapons used by the alleged assailant. The identified weapons were taken into custody for examination.
