(Rwampara District) – Police officers from Mwizi Police Station, assisted by a canine unit, arrested Nabawanuka Leticia in connection with the suspected murder of Nyakwezi Grace in Rwampara District. The arrest follows a tragic discovery made on November 4, 2024, when local children found the body of a woman lying in a banana plantation.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found substantial evidence indicating a violent incident. According to reports, a large pool of blood and signs of dragging were present around the area, suggesting that the woman might have been moved post injury. This critical evidence signaled the need for an in depth investigation into the possible suspects and their motives.
The Uganda Police Force deployed a sniffer dog, Hector, to assist in tracking any leads from the crime scene. Hector led officers directly to a locked house, which was identified as belonging to Nabawanuka Leticia, the co-wife of the deceased. The police acted swiftly, entering the premises and detaining Leticia.
During questioning, Leticia reportedly confessed to involvement in the crime. Further investigation within the house revealed blood stained clothing, strengthening the case against her. The discovery of these items corroborated the information gathered from the scene, giving the police substantial grounds to continue with the charges against her.
Police officials have emphasized the importance of preserving crime scenes to ensure the successful collection of evidence. They reminded the public that any tampering with a crime scene could hinder justice, as maintaining scene integrity is vital for investigative accuracy.
