Five victims of a bus ambush that occurred in South Sudan on Tuesday have been hospitalized at Bibia Health Center III in Amuru District, northern Uganda. The incident involved a Babeto Company Bus, registered as SSD 089 Z, which was traveling from Juba to Kampala. Armed attackers reportedly fired at the bus, injuring several passengers, some of whom are feared to have been abducted. The assailants also set the bus on fire after the attack.
Goodluck Oywelo, the Amuru District Health Educator, confirmed that five injured passengers were brought to the health center on Tuesday evening after being evacuated through the Elegu Border with assistance from South Sudanese health officials. Of the five victims, four are Ugandan nationals, while one is from South Sudan. The group included one woman. Due to security concerns, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

According to Oywelo, two of the injured had shrapnel wounds in their stomachs and legs, while the others sustained bruises. It was later reported that the four Ugandan victims were discharged from the health center on Wednesday evening after they requested to leave. The South Sudanese victim was transferred to South Sudan for further medical treatment.
Proscovia Acham, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Amuru District, confirmed the arrival of the victims at Bibia Health Center III. Acham received a call from a South Sudanese official on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, notifying her of the transfer of the casualties.
