According to police sources, Paddy Sserunjogi, also known as Sobi, a suspected killer and former operative with the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), was killed during a land dispute in Gomba District.
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm in Kibaale village, Kigumba parish, Maddu sub-county, where an armed group of approximately 50 people attacked another group claiming ownership of a piece of land reportedly owned by an individual named Kalisa. The altercation resulted in Sobi’s death, with several others reportedly injured.
The land in question, bought by Kalisa for Shs100 million in 2007, saw conflicting claims from another group led by Deborah Nagadiya and Barton Kiwewa, who asserted ownership based on land titles. The dispute escalated, leading to violence, and both parties allegedly hired individuals from different areas to support their causes.
Harriet Nakamya, the Goimba RDC, stated that Sobi’s gang, reportedly hired by Kiweewa, Nabakka, and Nagadya, orchestrated the attack. The clash resulted in destruction of property, including structures and belongings, and the alleged killing of others.
Sobi’s body was taken to Gomba hospital mortuary for post-mortem, while investigations continue at Kanoni police station.
Sobi, known for terrorizing Kampala City with a gang of 30 to 50 members, engaged in criminal activities, including theft, robbery, and murder. Despite arrests and convictions of his gang members, Sobi consistently obtained bail when brought to court.
Originally a police informer, Sobi openly admitted to criminal activities before being assimilated into ISO by former director general Kaka Bagyenda. His criminal history included an arrest in November 2021 for attempting to raid a village in Wakiso District.
