South Sudanese National Arrested in Connection with Rape and Murder in Wakiso

Kira Division Police arrested 26 year old Joh Gido Joh, also known as Johnnie, a South Sudanese national, in connection with the rape and murder of a woman named Bianca on Thursday, December 28, 2023, . The incident occurred during a confrontation over a phone in a local bar in Janda Zone, Namugongo Division, Kira municipality, Wakiso District.

Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrest, stating that the police were actively investigating the tragic incident that took place around 2:00 am. Eyewitnesses reported a dispute involving Bianca, Gido, Clement, and Bombom, leading to a violent altercation resulting in Bianca’s death. The assailants fled the scene, prompting a prompt response from the Kira Division Police.

Upon receiving the report, the police documented the crime scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and apprehended Gido. The search for his accomplices is ongoing, and the deceased’s body has been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for a post-mortem. Owoyesigyire urged the public to share any crucial information for the ongoing investigation.

Nsawo LC One Chairman Micheal Ssendawula, who knew the deceased as a resident of Nsawo Zone, provided additional details. Bianca had recently received money from her sister in Qatar for holiday festivities and a new phone. She was last seen at a bar with Sudanese nationals, and witnesses reported her asking for her phone before her untimely death.

Ssendawula highlighted the challenges faced in the area, including an influx of South Sudanese nationals who often arrive without proper introductions to the LC one, bringing friends and not cooperating with locals.
