A tragic incident has been reported at St. Thomas Vocational Secondary School in Rutoto Sub-county, Rubirizi District, where a student allegedly died by suicide after being subjected to disciplinary action.
The deceased, identified as Sheilla Ankunda, was reportedly found in possession of a love letter.
According to preliminary reports, a teacher, who has not yet been identified, allegedly punished her with several strokes and informed her that she would appear before the school disciplinary committee.
Sources claim that Ankunda, distressed by the incident, later returned to the dormitory where she allegedly took her own life by hanging.
When contacted for a comment, the school headteacher, Fr. Charles Niwagaba, said the school administration was still dealing with the situation and declined to provide further details.
