Police have shot and killed a man suspected of leading a group known for using machetes to commit crimes in Mbale and nearby areas. The suspect’s name was Ibra Maboni, also known as Kadanke, and he was 25 years old. He lived in Obuyonjo Cell, Nkoma Ward, in the Northern City Division of Mbale City.
Maboni had been wanted by the police, along with others, for various crimes. Roger Taitika, the spokesperson for the Elgon Region Police, reported that Maboni was shot by the police during an attempt to arrest him in Soweto, Busia District, where he had been hiding.
The deceased was believed to be responsible for multiple robberies in Mbale and the nearby areas. Other individuals who are still on the run are wanted for their involvement in at least ten robbery cases reported at different police stations in the Elgon region. Taitika mentioned that Maboni’s body is currently at the Mbale City mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination before it is returned to his family.
