Police in Kisoro have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of their biological father, Silver Mushabe, a 59-year-old resident of Igobero cell, Nombe parish, Rubuguri town council, Kisoro district.

The suspects, Davis Halerimana (20, a bricklayer) and Kenneth Tukamuhabwa (20, a student at Rutaka community secondary school), are both residents of the same address.

It is alleged that on October 20, 2024, around 8 p.m., at Igabiro village, the victim was murdered by his son, Davis Halerimana, and two others.

The motive behind the murder was a dispute over dowry. The deceased’s wife had been taken away by her parents due to their demands for dowry, and the son was demanding the deceased sell his land to bring her back.

Upon being alerted, police visited the crime scene, processed and documented it, recovered the body from the swamp where it had been dumped, and conducted a post-mortem. The two suspects were subsequently arrested to assist in the investigation.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident and stated that inquiries are ongoing.
