Popular Ugandan blogger, Ronald Kibedi Cox, finds himself behind bars after being remanded to Luzira prison by the Buganda Road Magistrates court. The 48-year-old resident of Kyanja Ring-Road in Nakawa division faces charges of cyber harassment and insulting the modesty of women.
Kibedi, known for his active presence on social media, particularly on his official Facebook page, was brought before the court on Tuesday. The charges stem from his alleged actions since 2021 until his arrest on January 18, 2024, in Kampala City.
The prosecution asserts that Kibedi utilized his Facebook platform to post video-links targeting his former girlfriend and her mother, intending to insult and harass them. In these videos, he is said to have made derogatory insinuations, suggesting that both women are involved in questionable activities, accusing them of being prostitutes who spend significant time bleaching their skins.
The offended mother and daughter reported the matter to the Central Police Station in Kampala, leading to Kibedi’s subsequent arrest.
During the court proceedings, Kibedi denied all charges when they were read against him before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi. He has been remanded to Luzira prison until Friday, giving him time to apply for bail.
