(Kampala) – Ugandan comedian Peter Walakira, a 21 year old resident of Nalumunye Jomayi Estate in Wakiso District, has been remanded in custody after a disturbing video involving a toddler led to his arrest. Walakira, who is known by TikTok users as “Silver Unit,” appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 18, 2024.

In the controversial video, Walakira allegedly made alarming statements regarding a one year old child whose mother had posted a video online. He reportedly claimed that if the child were his, he would first “sleep” with her before any other man. He further mentioned that he would later kill the child to prevent any man from having an affair with her. These statements sparked outrage among parents and social media users, who expressed fears for their children’s safety.

During his court appearance before Magistrate Patience Lorna Tukundane, Walakira first denied knowledge of the four charges brought against him but later expressed remorse for his actions and pleaded for forgiveness from the child’s mother. State prosecutor Henry Twinomujuni informed the court that investigations into the matter had been completed and requested a date for the hearing.

The prosecution alleges that on October 10, 2024, in Mutundwe, Nalumunye, Kampala, Walakira used a computer or computer system to threaten and inflict harm on the child, Tanasha Balindah. It is also claimed that he repeatedly and maliciously used electronic communication to make threats against the toddler, intending to instill fear for her safety.

Additionally, Walakira is accused of sharing and transmitting malicious information about children, violating Section 23(1)(a) of the Computer Misuse Act, by distributing threatening content involving a juvenile. Following the court proceedings, Walakira was remanded to Luzira Prison until November 5, 2024.
