Wakiso Man Arrested for Robbing Woman Met on Facebook

A 28-year-old electrician from Wakiso district, Steven Odongkara, has been apprehended for allegedly robbing a woman he met on Facebook.

Odongkara reportedly used his Facebook account to lure Jemima Namiiro on November 14, 2023, asking her for a date and meeting her at Kasasa, Bulaga in Wakiso.




During their meeting, Odongkara allegedly drew out a knife, stabbed Namiiro in the right hand, grabbed her bag, and fled. The victim reported the robbery on November 22, 2023, stating that her bag containing shillings 200,000 and cosmetics was stolen.




Police spokesperson Fred Enanga announced the arrest on January 2, 2024, stating that Odongkara, a resident of Bulaga “B” village, is in custody for a series of knife-point robberies against female victims lured from Facebook.




Upon tracking down the suspect, the Police arrested him on December 27, 2023, recovering a knife during the search. Odongkara admitted to luring girls and women on Facebook and robbing them.

Enanga cautioned individuals seeking love online, advising them to exercise caution. He recommended meeting in public places with others around, implementing a buddy system, and sharing details with a friend before going on dates.
