Medrine Kyomugisha, a 56 year old woman is being held by Police in Sheema district for allegedly beating her grandson to death.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime confirmed this incident and added that the suspect is currently behind bars.
Apparently, this unfortunate occurrence took place in Rwamurongora Cell found in Karera Ward, Kashozi Division in Sheema Municipality on December, 2, 2024 at around 5 pm. Kyomugisha is a peasant and also a resident of this area.
Shockingly, the deceased was the grandson of the suspect and also a Primary One Pupil at Nyakashambya Primary School.
According to sources privy to the matter, this boy aged 9 years was accused by his grandmother of stealing her money, Shs 14,000. However the boy denied having any knowledge of this money a thing that prompted Kyomugisha and a neighbor identified as Katehangwa to down on the boy and flog him mercilessly.
Tibanyendera Yorokamu the area LC 1 stated that the boy was severely and critically injured from the torture. As his situation deteriorated, he was rushed to Kabwohe Health Center IV. Sadly, the boy was pronounced dead on arrival.
Furthermore, the Police noted that the corpse had a lot of bruises and clear wounds from assault. The body was the taken to Mbarara Referral Hospital for a postmortem analysis as further investigations are ongoing.
