Chairman of West Acholi Chiefs, Rwot Oola Ojigi, Passes Away at 57

Rwot Peter Oola Ojigi, the clan chief of Aloko Lum and chairman of Rwodi (chiefs) in Gulu, Omoro, Amuru, and Nwoya districts in West Acholi, has passed away. He succumbed to diabetes and Hepatitis B on February 4, 2024, at 10:20 am at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor, where he was receiving treatment.

Rwot Oola Ojigi had been unwell for some time, and his health deteriorated after a diagnosis at Nakasero Hospital revealed significant damage to his internal organs. After seeking medical attention at Gulu Independent Hospital, he was transferred to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor, where he ultimately passed away.

Acting Prime Minister Okello Okuna, who also serves as the communication officer of Ker Kwaro Acholi, announced that the late Rwot Oola’s body is being prepared for burial at the 4th Division Infantry Hospital cold room. Okuna, in expressing condolences, called upon the family and the Acholi community to remain strong during this difficult time.
