President Yoweri Museveni led a National Prayer Breakfast at State House Entebbe, where hundreds of believers gathered. The event’s theme was “Fear not, repent, and serve the Lord” (Jeremiah 15:19-20).

During the ceremony, President Museveni cautioned Ugandans against mixing religion and politics of identity, as it can create disunity among people. He got the idea for this national prayer breakfast from the United States, where he saw religious leaders from various denominations coming together.

President Museveni explained, “When I went to the US, I saw they were doing exactly what we should have done, bringing together all these religious groups like Catholics, Anglicans, Muslims, and Orthodox.”

The event saw the participation of notable figures, including First Lady Janet Museveni, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, cabinet ministers, members of parliament, members of the diplomatic corps, and religious leaders.

Two international guest speakers from the USA, Archbishop Dr. Joseph Alexander, and Congressman Tim Walberg, were present. Archbishop Alexander encouraged Ugandan political leaders to practice christocracy governance and leadership, emphasizing the responsible use of resources for nation-building.

Congressman Walberg advised Uganda not to compromise its values under Western development pressure.

The National Prayer Breakfast was a significant gathering aimed at promoting unity and spiritual reflection among the Ugandan people.
