The Old Kampala Secondary School playground became the spiritual gathering ground for hundreds of Adventists and visitors in a divine and thanksgiving service led by Central Uganda Conference Bishop Samuel Kajoba. The event, organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) Central Uganda Conference, resulted in a remarkable occasion where over 200 individuals embraced baptism, accepting Jesus as their savior.
People from diverse regions, including Kalangala, Masaka, Mityana, Luweero, Mukono, and Kampala, among others, joined the prayers, highlighting the widespread participation in this annual corporate prayer event.
During his homily to the congregation, Bishop Kajoba emphasized the importance of gratitude, urging Christians not to dwell on unfulfilled aspirations of the past year but to express gratitude for the achievements granted by God. He specifically acknowledged the support received for church projects, including the construction of churches and hospitals, both physically and financially, alongside the preaching of the gospel.
Bishop Kajoba proclaimed a vision for 2024, envisioning a year of intensified efforts for spiritual growth, independence, infrastructure development, and quality leadership. He encouraged Christians to double their efforts, particularly in their workplaces and farms, to contribute to the country’s economic growth in the coming year.
The Bishop shared the church’s commitment to spreading the gospel in 2024, aiming to increase the number of Christians within the SDA church. He set a goal for the next year’s corporate prayer event, suggesting that each baptized Christian should bring at least one person they have preached to and converted into the faith.
Addressing societal concerns, Bishop Kajoba urged Christians to refrain from sin, singling out corruption as a hindrance to the country’s development efforts. The preacher emphasized the importance of collective efforts in fostering positive change.
Notable attendees at the event included Samuel Ssebaggala, the Uganda Union Director for Chaplaincy, Pr. Robert Kyeyune, the conference Executive Secretary, Ev. Dr. Joseph Namugera, the head of health ministries, Mrs. Esther Nsubuga, the head of women & children ministries, and Ev. Danstan Mulumba, the head of Adventist youth ministries, among other church leaders.
The event concluded with a sense of spiritual unity, as the baptized individuals embarked on a new chapter in their faith journey, supported by the collective commitment of the Adventist community.
