The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Thomas Tayebwa, is utilizing the current recess period to oversee various development projects within his Ruhinda North Constituency in Mitooma District.

Mr. Tayebwa is presently touring his Constituency, conducting strategic meetings focused on wealth creation, with a significant emphasis on the Parish Development Model (PDM).

He stated, “The meetings at the parish level have allowed me to gather valuable insights from both those who have benefited and those who are yet to benefit. So far, I have covered Rutokye Town Council and Kigyende Subcounty. Today, I am in Kanyabwanga Sub County on the same mission.”

“I aim to transform Ruhinda North into a model constituency for the implementation of PDM. We aspire to address all service delivery gaps to ensure that our people become part of the formal economy.”

Mr. Tayebwa explained that the feedback received thus far serves as evidence that PDM is poised to improve the fortunes of his constituents and individuals in other parts of Uganda.

“Despite encountering a few implementation challenges, the community overwhelmingly appreciates this government program,” he added.

PDM is an ambitious government project designed to uplift the 39% of the population currently engaged in subsistence farming or outside of the formal economy, thereby facilitating their economic transformation.
